Ready or not, the hustle and bustle of the holidays are swiftly approaching. This time of year can be joy-filled and exciting or stress-filled and energy-draining. After you’ve made your gift lists, checked them twice, and survived the trip to the stores in one piece, it’s time to wrap all those presents.

If we could only wrap presents this fast…

But, that’s often not the case.

Years ago, as Christmas Eve approached, I found myself in a predicament — not one gift had been wrapped yet (#momfail). Just the thought of gathering and putting away the supplies made the task feel more burdensome, so I procrastinated.

There I was, down to the wire and racing through the house grabbing tape, scissors, Sharpies, bags, ribbons, tags, and paper to set myself up for a wrapping marathon when I had a sudden epiphany! While I usually appreciate keeping the supplies pared down to only what is needed, I considered it might be more favorable to purchase a few extra supplies, have a variety to choose from, and keep everything together and accessible for any given moment, holiday, or occasion.

How many times have you felt the same way? How often have you dreaded wrapping gifts because hauling the scattered supplies from their cumbersome whereabouts was a less than desirable task? Wrapping supplies always seem to find themselves leaned against the corner of a deep closet, stacked in a random unmarked box, buried under other storage, and/or tossed in random drawers. It kinda steals some of the joy out of gift giving, doesn't it? So...let's fix that!

Having your supplies well-organized together in one place and easily accessible will:

  • dramatically cut down on stress and time

  • make gift giving a whole lot easier

  • make wrapping presents more fun for everyone

  • reduce space needed to store the gifts (since you’re more likely to wrap them as you buy them)

  • allow you to see exactly what supplies you have in stock

To help streamline and conveniently store your wrapping supplies, I’ve gathered 4 solutions you can choose from depending on what available space you have in your home.

1 | Underneath a Bed

Because wrapping supplies are so lightweight, they are prime candidates to be conveniently stored in an under-the-bed organizer.

2 | Hung on a Door

I love the storage an over-the-door organizer can offer, and this one from The Container Store is no exception. I love that it offers all the storage you need to keep everything close-at-hand. If you have more items, you can backstock and refill as needed.

3 | Rolling Cart

A sturdy cart can offer a ton of mobile storage space. This beautiful option from The Container Store can be rolled out when needed (right up to the surface you’ll be wrapping on) and tucked away when not in use.

4 | Hanging Garment Bag

A garment bag can be a clever option for wrapping paper if it has no gussets. The tighter fit keeps the paper rolls from moving around in the bag, and most garment bags have additional zipper pockets on the back for storing extra small supplies and accessories.

Pro Tip

If you're unsure what to keep on hand outside of the basics — wrapping paper, bows, and boxes — here are the supplies I personally stock up on for my organizer:

  • packing tape

  • Scotch tape

  • double-sided tape

  • scissors

  • Sharpie

  • roll of tulle

  • card stock or blank index cards

  • hole punch

  • twine

  • ribbon

I hope these smart and savvy solutions save you some time, money, and stress this holiday season (and all year long!).
